ORGANIZATIONS OF OUR CONGREGATION

All of our organizations are open to all, both our members and those who are not. Our members are urged to join and participate in those they think most suitable to their interests and needs. We encourage friends, guests, and others to participate in our organizations, as a way to get to know better both our Lord Jesus and the people and work of St. John's.
 
ALTAR GUILD-- The Altar Guild's purpose is to care for Gods house with a spirit of reverence, taking care of the Chancel area and being responsible for communion preparation, baptisms, and preparations for the Sunday Services.
 
XYZ-- Extra Years of Zest -- This ecumenical, friendly, and open Senior Citizens is filled with people from the Greater Irondequoit and Rochester communities. They meet for fellowship, fun, mutual encouragement and informative programs. The General Meeting is the 4th Tuesday of the month beginning at 10:00A.M. at the church.
  
WOMEN OF THE ELCA-- has three general meetings a year: Spring, Fall, and December. Thankoffering Sunday Worship Service is held in October. Goals of the Women of the ELCA include: Continue to encourage new members, support Lutheran World Relief, and to continue to work together with the various circles on common projects.
 
HANDI ANNIES-- meet the first Tuesday of each month at 9:15 AM. at church. Bring a sandwich. Beverage is provided. Sewing and craft projects make up the program.
 
YOUTH ACTIVITIES-- at St. John's are offered for junior and senior high youth. They are encouraged to bring friends, and frequently offered in cooperation with the Confirmation Ministries. In 2001, 3 high school youth and a sponsor are attending the New York Lutheran Youth Gathering at Niagara Falls, NY. Typical activities include: lock-ins, attending together movies and hockey games, and service projects. All junior high youth enrolled in the confirmation ministries also serve the church as ACOLYTES and senior high youth who desire may serve the church as COMMUNION ASSISTANTS and CRUCIFERS.
